Consulting and Training

Mike has two unique consulting service offerings.

Creating a Prototype Integrated Report
An intensive, hybrid training-consulting program designed to help a corporate team begin the integrated reporting journey by creating a prototype report.

Integrated Reporting Implementation
A comprehensive approach designed to help clients use integrated reporting as a management tool to mitigate risks, address societal expectations, and drive major innovation.

Creating a Prototype Integrated Report

This program combines elements of executive education and management consulting. Live instruction and discussion, team readings, and work assignments combine to build an understanding of the critical enablers of integrated reporting.

This program delivers a concrete product. A company team of up to five people will collaborate to create a prototype integrated report. This is a low-cost, low-risk way for companies to produce a prototype report that can be put through an internal vetting process to become the core of an externally published integrated report.

Module 1—The role of governance and culture
Introduces perspectives that challenge the conventional wisdom about directors’ responsibility to put shareholder interests first. Provides insights into balancing the profit motive with addressing social and environmental concerns.

Module 2—Analyst and investor perspectives
Provides information about how analysts and investors are using environmental, social, and governance performance information. Discusses the critical importance of factoring global trends into the assessment of risks and opportunities.

Module 3—Measure what really matters
Focuses on the importance of using the organization’s materiality assessment to identify opportunities for major innovation—game-changing ideas that create new business models, products, and services. Explains how to use the Sustainable Value Matrix.

Module 4—Linking process and performance
Emphasizes integrated reporting as a process and presents research by leading academic experts on the link between governance, engagement, materiality, and innovation processes and enhanced market performance.

Module 5—Creating a prototype integrated report
Participants will create a prototype integrated report focused on Materiality, including a Sustainable Value Matrix; Risks and opportunities, including discussion of potential major innovation projects; Strategy, including a “strategic framework for long-term value creation;” and a CEO letter.
